  • Gold filled jewelry packs nearly 100 times more gold than gold plated jewelry. Unlike gold-plated pieces, gold-filled jewelry is made with a thick layer of solid 14k gold that is mechanically bonded to a base metal (jeweler's brass), ensuring it won't rub off or degrade over time. Because gold-filled jewelry is made from solid gold, your jewelry will never lose its value.

This type of jewelry offers the same qualities as solid gold at a fraction of the cost - it's both tarnish resistant and waterproof, perfect for everyday wear. Additionally, gold filled jewelry is ideal for those with metal allergies since it won't trigger any reactions.

We exclusively source our gold filled material from reputable US companies to ensure the highest quality product.

  • Yes, you can create pieces out of sterling silver during metalsmithing workshops but since I specialize in gold-filled jewelry, your options may be more limited than if you were to jump on the gold bandwagon. We are on a mission to convert all you silver lovers and make quality, affordable jewelry accessible to everyone.

Sterling silver options are available in the charm bar.

  • When you arrive for your workshop, you'll have the task of choosing from an array of pieces to craft, as well as looking through our current selection of gemstones to add the perfect touch. Among our most popular items are stacking rings, earrings, and pendants. Our selection of materials and gemstones is ever-evolving to ensure a constant stream of fresh options for your creativity. Your skilled jeweler will expertly navigate you through the creative process, culminating in a uniquely special piece crafted by your own hands!

  • You will, in some way, be involved in each step to complete your jewelry. However, your jeweler's job is to ensure that your piece gets made correctly, safely, and on time. You can expect to make about 60-80% of your finished piece.

  • Celebrated a birthday here with a small group and we had SO much fun. Alix was an excellent host and let us bring our own drinks/apps and was so helpful while we made our necklaces. Highly recommend for a fun ladies night activity in the Sandpoint area!

  • I've taken two of the classes, and I personally think they are alot of fun. I am also very grateful for her patience with me as I had no previous experience making jewelry that way, and thanks to her verbal and visual explanations on what to do the pieces I made turned out to be better than I had expected them to be. I highly recommend taking her classes (or at least buying her jewelry) to help support her and to help her expand her business.

FAQs

  • Gold Fill Jewelry is a great option for those looking for the look and feel of solid gold without breaking the bank. Gold Fill jewelry is made by taking a layer of real gold and bonding it to a base metal using high heat and pressure, creating a durable, long-lasting piece of jewelry. Here are some of the benefits of Gold Fill Jewelry:

    • Durability: The high heat and pressure used in the manufacturing process give Gold Fill jewelry an extremely long life span. It won't chip or flake off like plated jewelry, allowing it to last many times longer than other options.

    • Value: Since Gold Fill is made with real gold, it retains much more value than plated or faux gold options. Its cost-effectiveness makes it a great alternative to solid gold.

    • Beauty: The layer of real gold creates an authentic, beautiful look that will never fade or tarnish like other materials can. It's available in several colors as well, adding to its versatility and appeal.

    • Versatility: Gold Fill jewelry can be worn every day without worry - it won't wear down like other metals - making it a perfect statement piece for any occasion!

Overall, Gold Fill Jewelry offers high-quality materials at an affordable price, giving customers all the glamour they desire without sacrificing quality. With its durability and beauty, it's sure to become a favorite piece in any collection!

  • Gold fill jewelry is a great choice for those looking to invest in jewelry without breaking the bank. All fine jewelry requires careful handling to ensure its integrity, beauty and shine. With proper care, gold fill jewelry can last for years and still look just as beautiful as when it was first purchased. Here are some tips on how to take care of your gold fill jewelry:

    1. Clean Regularly: Gold fill jewelry should be cleaned with a mild soap and warm water every few weeks or so. Gently scrub the piece until all dirt and oil are removed from the surface. To dry, pat down the jewelry with a soft cloth or paper towel.

    2. Store Carefully: Make sure to store your gold fill jewelry in an airtight container or in a zipped plastic bag to keep it clean and shiny. Keeping it away from moisture will help prevent tarnishing over time.

    3. Avoid Chemicals: When wearing your gold fill jewelry, make sure to avoid contact with any chemicals or harsh cleaners that could cause discoloration or damage the surface of the metal. It's also a good idea to take off your gold fill jewelry before swimming, showering, or entering hot tubs as chlorine can cause discoloration of the metal if left on too long.

    4. Avoid Scratching/Bending: Avoid scratching or bending your gold fill jewelry as this could weaken its structural integrity over time and potentially break apart completely.

    5. Get It Professionally Polished: Over time, your gold fill jewellery may become dulled from exposure to air and body oils - if this happens, you should consider taking it into a professional jeweler who can polish it back up for you!

Hi I’m Alix, owner and operator of The Jewelry Bar. I am thrilled to have you here while I single handedly build this dream of mine and figure it all out as I go.

As you can probably tell, I’m a little bit gold-obsessed and a fine jewelry lover. Few issues there: solid gold is crazy expensive (for good reason), skin sensitivities made it hard for me to find affordable quality options, and most cheap jewelry just kinda sucks for everyday wear.

The solution? I found gold filled jewelry and never looked back!
